Statutory Bereavement Pay (Northern Ireland)

PurePro will support Statutory Bereavement Pay Northern Ireland (SPBPNIRE) within the payroll system. From 6 April 2026, users will be able to process SPBPNI payments for eligible employees.
This functionality will enable employers to administer payments accurately and in line with legislative requirements, ensuring compliance with current statutory guidance and eligibility criteria.

Eligibility for Statutory Bereavement Pay Northern Ireland (SPBPNIRE)

  • Employee must be employed in Northern Ireland.
  • A Northern Ireland workplace postcode is required to process this statutory payment.
  • Eligible employees are not required to be have 26 weeks of continuous service/employment.
  • SPBPNIRE can be processed for parental bereavement and miscarriage (the event must be recorded as such).
Statutory Bereavement Pay Northern Ireland (SPBPNIRE) is paid at the same rate of Statutory Bereavement Pay (UK), which is £194.32/week.

Adding Statutory Bereavement Pay Northern Ireland (SPBPNIRE)

To add Statutory Bereavement Pay Northern Ireland (SPBPNIRE), follow these steps -
    Navigate to Payroll → Payments
    Click on "Create New"
    Select the required worker
    Select "Statutory Parental Bereavement Pay (NI)" under "Rate"
    Add required information
    Click "Save"
FPS, EPS and P32 Report record SPBPNIRE separately.
